ToolAI.io Sells a Followed Link for $49. It Nofollows 596 of the Other 600.
ToolAI.io asks $49 to list an AI tool, printed as "49.00" under a struck-through "$99.00" with a "-51%" tag beside it. Five bullets come with it, and the one people buy is "Dofollow website link". Start with the good news, because it is real: on their nine most recently dated listings, every single Visit button points straight at the tool with rel="noopener", which is a followed link. Ahrefs rates the domain 30.
Now the part their card does not mention. We took 600 listings at random from their 7,346 and fetched every one. 596 of them do not link to the tool at all. They point at /link/<slug> on toolai.io, carrying rel="nofollow ugc noopener", and their own robots.txt blocks that path with the line "Redirect/tracking routes are excluded because they are not canonical content". So the link you buy is genuine, and it is also close to the only one of its kind in the building.
A typical listing's Visit button, copied whole: "<a class="legacy-visit" href="/link/plumy" target="_blank" rel="nofollow ugc noopener" data-track-target="https://plumy.app">". The tool's real address is in an attribute, not in a link, and on that page no anchor of any kind leaves toolai.io toward the tool. The redirector answers 200 with no redirect in it.

Per www.toolai.io, its robots.txt, sitemap-index.xml, /submit/tool, /terms and /link-to-us, and the listing pages sampled here, all read on 26 August 2026. Domain Rating is Ahrefs' figure via submitator.com/domain-rating-checker; no second provider was queried. Nothing was submitted, no account was created and no payment was made, so nothing here describes what happens after paying. The sitemap index holds 82,567 URLs across eight sitemaps; 7,346 of them are English /ai/ tool pages and ten further language prefixes carry a copy of the catalog each, which is where the rest of the number comes from. The link census is a seeded random sample of 600 of those 7,346, all 600 fetched with zero errors: every one carries a Visit anchor, 596 point at /link/<slug> with rel="nofollow ugc noopener" and 4 point at the tool's own domain with rel="noopener". A separate seeded sample of 400 from the same set returned 397 redirector anchors, all with the same rel, and a canonical tag on 400 of 400. The recent cohort was censused in full rather than sampled: 76 listings carry a lastmod on or after 1 July 2026, of which 13 link direct and followed and 63 use the redirector, and the 63 sit on bulk dates with 52 of them stamped 10 July 2026. The nine listings dated individually after 12 July 2026 are aiforasmr, photogpt, honeychat, clever-ai-humanizer, fashion-diffusion-ai, flatlogic-generator, imagvio-ai, t-shirt-design-ai and eyematch-ai, and all nine link direct and followed. A lastmod is an update date rather than a publication date, and payment status is not visible from outside, so no listing here is described as paid or unpaid. Prices, bullets, the coupon line and every terms quotation are from the served HTML of the pages named. The word free returns no match on /submit/tool, which carries one pricing card, no radio inputs, and hidden elements only for navigation, accessibility and the anti-forgery token. The Internet Archive holds no capture of toolai.io, so the $99 figure has no archived history either way. Submitator does not submit to ToolAI.io: our plans are $29 for 30 directories, $49 for 60 and $79 for 100, one-time, chosen by you in the dashboard with each Domain Rating shown, rejections credited back as +1 directory and a 30-day refund policy on the conditions in our terms.
How to submit to ToolAI.io, step by step
- 1
Send the coupon email before you open the form
Their own page says "Have a coupon code? Email support@toolai.io to get a $10 discount coupon." That is $10 off a price already presented as 51% off, and it costs one email. There is no reason to pay the counter price when the seller has published the way around it.
- 2
Have three things ready, because that is all it asks
The form wants "AI Tool Name", "Website" and "Tool Description", all three marked required, and nothing else. Write the description properly: it is the only text on your listing that you control, and their terms reserve the right to edit "titles, summaries, categories, tags, and screenshots for clarity".
- 3
Read the submission terms, not the bullet list
The card sells a "Permanent Listing". The terms behind the checkbox say ToolAI.io "may update, relabel, move, unlist, or remove any tool page" and that fees "cover listing review and processing, not guaranteed placement, ranking, traffic, or editorial endorsement". Neither document is hidden. They just say different things, and the one you agree to is the second.
- 4
Check your listing's Visit button after it goes live
This is the whole reason to buy. Open your page, right-click the Visit button and read the address. If it starts with /link/ you have the redirector that carries rel="nofollow ugc noopener", and if it is your own domain you have the followed link the card promised. On the nine listings dated since mid-July it was the second, so ask them to fix it if yours is the first.
- 5
Do not count on the homepage month for traffic
"First Month Homepage Display" is real, and the homepage carried seven tools in its recommend section when we read it. It is also a month, on a domain rated 30, and their terms decline to guarantee "lead volume, traffic, or business results". Treat it as a link purchase and any traffic as a bonus.
- 6
Decide whether one listing is what $49 is for
Nothing above says the $49 is fake. It says it is small: one page, on one domain, in a catalog whose other links mostly do not pass value, published at a rate their own sitemap puts at roughly two individually dated tools a week. Whether that is worth $49 depends entirely on what else $49 could have bought.
Credit first: the link on new listings is the real thing
Plenty of directories sell "dofollow" and ship something else, and this is not one of them. We censused their recent cohort in full rather than sampling it: 76 listings carry a sitemap date on or after 1 July 2026, and the nine that are dated individually after 12 July all carry a Visit button pointing at the tool's own domain with rel="noopener" and no nofollow token anywhere in it.
The other 63 in that cohort sit on bulk dates, 52 of them stamped 10 July 2026 together, and they use the redirector. We cannot see who paid and who did not, and we are not going to guess, so read the split as what it is: whatever the $49 does, listings that arrive one at a time now get the followed link.
Almost everything else points at /link/
Six hundred listings, drawn at random from their 7,346 and fetched without a single error. Every one has a Visit button. Four of them point at the tool's own domain. The remaining 596 point at /link/ followed by the listing slug, on toolai.io, with rel="nofollow ugc noopener" on every single one. Not a variation between them.
Their robots.txt is unusually candid about what that path is. It carries the comment "Redirect/tracking routes are excluded because they are not canonical content" directly above Disallow: /link/. So the directory tells crawlers to stay out of the route that nearly every listing uses to reach the product it lists. That is a decision about their own site rather than a broken promise to you, and it is still the clearest description available of what the neighbourhood around your paid page is worth.
One small thing worth knowing, since it costs nothing. A bare URL typed into the tool description publishes as an ordinary anchor with no rel attribute on it at all, which is to say followed. Two listings in our sample carry one that way.
Seven thousand tools, or eighty-two thousand pages?
Their sitemap index adds up to 82,567 URLs, which sounds like a very large directory. It is one directory in eleven languages. The English catalog is 7,346 tool pages, and ten further prefixes carry a copy each. Nothing wrong with translating a catalog, but if you are weighing this against another directory, weigh 7,346.
Within those 7,346, one date does a lot of work: 3,036 listings share a single lastmod of 5 June 2023. Another block lands together in June 2026. What arrives one listing at a time, dated on its own day, is a much smaller stream, and since 12 July 2026 it runs at roughly two a week.
The card and the terms are one checkbox apart
"Permanent Listing" is the third bullet on the thing you pay for. Under the submit button sits "By clicking submit, you agree to our Terms of Service", and those terms say ToolAI.io "may update, relabel, move, unlist, or remove any tool page to keep the directory accurate and safe" and that it does "not guarantee ongoing visibility, lead volume, traffic, or business results from a listing".
The same page narrows the first bullet too. Paid fees, in their words, "cover listing review and processing, not guaranteed placement, ranking, traffic, or editorial endorsement", while the card is selling "First Month Homepage Display". And on refunds: "Once a paid review has started, fees are generally non-refundable", with refunds considered "only when ToolAI.io cannot deliver the purchased review service". Every one of those lines is fair to publish. They are just a different offer from the one on the card, and they are the one you actually agree to.
The discount behind the discount
The price is staged: $99.00 struck through, $49.00 live, a "-51%" tag and a "SAVE $50.00" line. Then, a few centimetres down the same form, "Have a coupon code? Email support@toolai.io to get a $10 discount coupon."
A 51% discount with another $10 available by asking is a way of saying the counter price is not the price. The Internet Archive holds no capture of this domain at all, so whether $99 was ever charged is not a question anyone outside can answer. What is on screen is a number nobody is expected to pay and a second number that a single email lowers again.
They ask for a followed link back
Their /link-to-us page hands listed tools ready-made badge code: "<a href="https://www.toolai.io/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="Featured on ToolAI.io">". No nofollow in it, and the page adds that "after approval, you can use your profile URL as backlink material".
It also tells you to "use the final public URL, not a temporary redirect URL", which is sound advice, and it sits on a site where 596 of 600 outbound links we sampled are a redirect URL their robots.txt calls non-canonical. Nobody is obliged to link back, and the badge is optional. It is simply worth noticing which direction the followed links are asked to run.
Their $49: one listing. Our $49: sixty directories.
One payment, every directory named in your dashboard with its Domain Rating on the card, and you tick the ones you want before anything is filed.
ToolAI.io review: is the $49 worth it?
As a single purchase, it is honest goods. A followed link from a DR 30 AI directory, a page that carries a canonical tag, a month on a homepage and a form that takes three fields. If that is what you want and you send the coupon email first, you will get what the card describes.
What it will not do is much. It is one link, on one domain, in a catalog where the other links mostly do not pass value and where individually dated listings appear at about two a week. The terms you sign let them relabel, move, unlist or remove the page, and decline to promise traffic. None of that makes $49 a bad number for a link. It makes it a number worth comparing.
One more thing our own $49 absorbs. Nine of the sixty directories in the Growth plan sell a paid tier of their own, and the plan covers each of them, over $140 of launch fees that never reaches your card.
One real link, in a nofollowed catalog.
$49, no free route and no hidden tier, for a listing on a DR 30 directory of 7,346 AI tools. The dofollow link they sell is delivered on their newest listings, and 596 of the 600 we sampled point outward through a /link/ path their own robots.txt calls non-canonical. The card says "Permanent Listing"; the terms reserve the right to unlist. Our $49 is sixty directories, and you pick every one. The whole catalog.
FAQ
How much does it cost to submit to ToolAI.io?
$49, and that is the only route. Their card reads "Paid Submission Plan" with "$99.00" struck above "49.00", a "-51%" tag, a "SAVE $50.00" line and "One-time fee" under it. Payment is "Secure Payment via PayPal". The word free does not appear anywhere on the submission page, there is no second tier in the markup and no plan selector at all, so there is nothing to compare the $49 against except the $99 they print above it.
What does the ToolAI.io $49 include?
Five bullets, in their order: "First Month Homepage Display", "Priority Review Channel", "Permanent Listing", "Dofollow website link" and "SEO Optimization Support". The fourth one is the reason most people are reading this page, and on the evidence of their newest listings it is delivered.
Is the ToolAI.io link really dofollow?
On new listings, yes, and it deserves to be said before anything else. Their sitemap dates nine listings individually between 15 July and 20 August 2026 and every one of the nine carries a Visit button pointing straight at the tool's own domain with rel="noopener", which is a followed link. What is also true is that this is the exception in their catalog: on a random sample of 600 of their 7,346 English listings, 596 point outward through /link/ instead, carrying rel="nofollow ugc noopener".
What is the ToolAI.io /link/ redirector?
It is the path almost every listing uses to send visitors to the tool. The anchor looks like href="/link/plumy" with rel="nofollow ugc noopener", and the tool's real address sits in a data-track-target attribute, which is not a link. Their robots.txt blocks the path in their own words: "Redirect/tracking routes are excluded because they are not canonical content", followed by Disallow: /link/. The URL answers 200 with no redirect at all.
How big is ToolAI.io really?
7,346 AI tools in English. Their sitemap index totals 82,567 URLs, but ten more language prefixes carry a copy of the catalog each, so the large number is translation rather than tools. Within the 7,346, one lastmod date of 5 June 2023 covers 3,036 of them, which is the shape of an import rather than of submissions arriving one by one.
Does ToolAI.io have a free submission option?
No. We checked the submission page for a hidden or disabled tier the way a marked-down price often hides one, and there is nothing there: one pricing card, no radio buttons, and the only hidden elements on the page are navigation, accessibility attributes and the anti-forgery token. $49 is the whole menu.
Can you get a ToolAI.io discount?
They offer one on the page itself: "Have a coupon code? Email support@toolai.io to get a $10 discount coupon." So the $49 that is already presented as 51% off a $99 price has another $10 behind an email. If you are going to pay, send that email first.
Is a ToolAI.io listing permanent?
The card says "Permanent Listing". Their submission terms, which the form asks you to accept, put it differently: "ToolAI.io may update, relabel, move, unlist, or remove any tool page to keep the directory accurate and safe. We do not guarantee ongoing visibility, lead volume, traffic, or business results from a listing." The same document says paid fees "cover listing review and processing, not guaranteed placement, ranking, traffic, or editorial endorsement". Both are theirs, one checkbox apart.
Can you get a refund from ToolAI.io?
Their terms: "Once a paid review has started, fees are generally non-refundable. Refunds may be considered only when ToolAI.io cannot deliver the purchased review service." So the refundable case is narrow and it is theirs to judge. Read that clause before the PayPal button, not after.
Is ToolAI.io worth $49?
If you want one followed link from a DR 30 AI directory and you are content that the listing is reviewable and removable on their terms, it is a real thing you are buying and they appear to hand it over. What $49 does not buy is reach: the catalog you join routes 596 of every 600 links we sampled through a path their own robots.txt excludes, and their sitemap dates roughly two new individually-listed tools a week.
Does Submitator submit to ToolAI.io?
No. Our Growth plan happens to cost the same $49, so nobody here is undercutting anybody, and what differs is what the money turns into: sixty directories instead of one listing, each named in the dashboard with its Domain Rating on the card before you pick it. Rejections come back as +1 directory, and there is a thirty-day refund window on the conditions in our terms.
More submit-to guides.
Same $49. One listing there, sixty directories here.
One payment, each directory named with its Domain Rating on the card before you choose it, badges installed and kept live where one is wanted, and a rejection swapped for another directory.
