Submit to AI Tools Up

How to Submit to AI Tools Up, and Which Categories to Type

AI Tools Up (aitoolsup.com) takes free submissions through a nine-question form, seven of them required. Ahrefs rates the domain 11 and it holds a little over 330 listings.

This one is in our own catalog, taken free, and below is the same job done manually. The form has one genuine trap in it, and it is not the image upload: the Categories box is free text with no list attached, so you are expected to know their vocabulary already. Type something they do not use and you get filed as a tag rather than into a category. The list is below, and it is the reason this page exists.

Two things the form does not tell you

The image gets cropped to 16:9, so export at 1200 by 675 and nothing important gets cut. And the filename becomes the alt text on your listing, so call it after your tool rather than leaving it as a screenshot timestamp. Neither is written anywhere on the form.

Per aitoolsup.com/submit-tool/, the linked Tally form, listing and category pages, robots.txt, the sitemap and archived copies, read on 13 August 2026. Domain Rating is Ahrefs' figure via submitator.com/domain-rating-checker; no second provider was queried. Nothing was submitted through the form and no payment was made, so what follows a submission is not described here. The submit-tool path is a pricing page; the form itself is hosted on Tally and opens from the Submit Tool button in the Free column. Field names, placeholders and required status are read from the form as served: seven of the nine questions are required, with Features and the newsletter checkbox optional and the checkbox unticked on load. The category list is enumerated from the live category pages, of which forty carry tools; four further sections are editorial rather than tool categories. Image guidance is derived from how listing cards render, which is a hard crop to 16:9, and from the alt text on published listings matching the uploaded filename; the form itself states only a 10 MB limit. Description figures come from published listings, whose median length is about 320 characters and which render in full. The link audit is a census rather than a sample: across all 367 posts and 590 body anchors, exactly one carried rel=nofollow, with sponsored and ugc absent entirely, and all 303 Visit buttons were followed; most outbound links carry an appended ref or utm parameter. Fifteen listings traced from 2024 remain live with identical addresses and rel attributes. Turnaround wording is quoted from the tier cards, where the free column states listing within 30 days and the 24-hour figure belongs to the paid options. The site publishes several audience figures which are not independently verifiable and are not repeated here. Submitator submits here as part of its catalog: $29 for 30 directories, $49 for 60 and $79 for 100, one-time, chosen by you in the dashboard with DR shown, badges installed and kept live, a live link per completed listing, rejections credited back as +1 directory and a 30-day refund policy on the conditions in our terms.

How to submit to AI Tools Up, step by step

  1. 1

Export the image at 1200 by 675 first

It is required, and the listing cards crop to 16:9 regardless of what you upload, so matching that ratio is the difference between a clean card and a cropped logo. Keep it under 10 MB, which is generous. Name the file after your tool, because that filename is what ends up as the alt text.

  2. 2

Open the form from the Free column

The submit-tool page is a pricing page rather than a form. Press Submit Tool under Free and a Tally form opens with all nine questions on one screen. No account, no captcha.

  3. 3

    Fill the four text fields

Tool Name, Tool url, Email and Description are all required. Give the plain URL with no referral parameter attached. For the description, one to three paragraphs is right, and the opening sentence should say what the tool does because the first 190 characters get reused as the short version.

  4. 4

Type categories from their list, not yours

This is the box worth slowing down on. It is free text with no suggestions, so pick two or three names from the list above and spell them the way the site does. A name they do not use is not rejected, it just becomes a tag rather than putting you on a category page.

  5. 5

Set Pricing, and Features if it applies

Pricing is required and offers Free, Freemium, Free trial and Paid. Features is optional, covering API, Open source, Mobile app, Browser extension and Discord community. The newsletter checkbox at the bottom starts unticked and can stay that way.

  6. 6

    Submit and note the date

You land on Tally's standard thank-you screen, which carries no reference number. Their free tier card says listing within 30 days, so write down when you sent it and check back rather than waiting on a message.

The categories box, and why it is the whole job

Most directory forms hand you a dropdown. This one gives you a text field and a placeholder asking you to mention the categories that fit your tool, with no list anywhere near it. So the question of what to type is entirely yours to solve, and getting it wrong is quiet rather than loud: nothing bounces back, your entry simply does not join a category page.

Forty category pages carry tools on the site, and they are listed above. Two things make the difference. Use the displayed name rather than the URL slug, since the two are not always the same word. And pick two or three rather than one, because a tool that belongs on both a writing page and a marketing page gets seen twice for the same effort.

A handful of other sections exist that are not tool categories at all, covering the blog, tutorials and roundups. Those are editorial, so there is no point typing them.

The image, and the bit nobody writes down

The form asks for an image, marks it required, and tells you exactly one thing about it: the size limit is 10 MB. That is not the constraint that matters. Listing cards crop to 16:9, so an image at any other ratio loses its edges, and something at 1200 by 675 arrives intact.

The other detail is worth thirty seconds. On published listings the alt text of the image matches the filename that was uploaded. So a file called after your product becomes a sensible alt attribute, and one called screenshot followed by a date becomes that instead. It costs nothing to rename the file before you drag it in.

Tiers, and which number applies to you

Three columns sit on the pricing page. The free one states listing within 30 days. Above it are a $19 fast track and a $249 promoted placement, both handled through third-party services rather than a checkout on the site itself. If you are taking the free route, 30 days is the figure on your card; the 24-hour promise that also appears on that page belongs to the paid columns.

The form's own introduction says they try to review submissions as soon as possible and publish them on the site. That reads as intent rather than a commitment, and there is no reference number on the confirmation screen to follow up with, so the practical approach is to note the date and look again later. Advertising enquiries go to the address given on the form.

What the listing gives you

A followed link, and this one was counted rather than sampled. Across all 367 posts on the site and the 590 anchors inside their bodies, exactly one carried a nofollow attribute. Sponsored and ugc do not appear anywhere. All 303 Visit buttons are followed links. For a domain at this size that is a better record than plenty of larger directories can show.

Two things to note alongside it. Most of those outbound links carry a ref or utm parameter appended, which is normal for a directory and changes nothing about the link itself. And the entries stay: fifteen listings we traced back to 2024 are all still live at the same addresses, with the same attributes on their links.

One image, forty category names, thirty forms.

Every directory wants the same assets in a slightly different shape. Prepare them once and let the repetition be somebody else's afternoon.

Start — from $29

Worth doing?

Yes. It is free, the link on published listings is followed, the entries have held their addresses for two years, and the form is honest about what the free column means. The only real cost is that it wants more from you than most: an image at the right ratio, a description worth reading, and categories you have to look up.

Do the preparation once and the form takes a few minutes. Skip the preparation and you get a cropped image with a filename for alt text and an entry that belongs to no category, which is a waste of an otherwise decent listing.

The short version

Look the categories up before you type them.

The submit-tool page is pricing; the form opens from the Free column. Nine questions, seven required. Image crops to 16:9 and its filename becomes the alt text. The categories box is free text with forty real names behind it, listed above. Free column says thirty days. The whole catalog.

FAQ

Where is the AI Tools Up submission form?

Not quite where the URL suggests. aitoolsup.com/submit-tool/ is a pricing page rather than a form. The form opens when you press Submit Tool in the Free column, and it is a Tally form hosted off-site. Nine questions on a single screen, no account and no captcha.

Which categories should you type on the AI Tools Up form?

The Categories box is free text with no list attached, so you are typing blind unless you know what exists. Forty category pages are live on the site, and the useful move is to type two or three of their display names exactly: Productivity, Copywriting, Developer tools, Marketing, Design, Image Generation, Chatbot, SEO, Research, Avatar, Human Resource, Coding Assistant, Video Editing, Art Generators, Customer support, Education, Social Media, Data Science, Audio Generation, Sales, Image Editing, Video Generation, NSFW, Healthcare, Crypto, Finance, AI Agents, Presentation, Prompts, Text to Speech, Gaming, Search Engine, AI Tools, E-commerce, Translation, GPTs, ChatGPT Plugins, Real Estate, AI Travel tools and AI Detection. Use the displayed name rather than the URL slug. Anything you type that is not on that list gets published as a tag instead of filing you under a category.

What image does AI Tools Up want?

The form says only that the limit is 10 MB, but the site is more specific in practice. Listing cards crop hard to 16:9, so a 1200 by 675 image lands without anything important being cut. One detail that costs nothing and is easy to miss: the filename becomes the image's alt text on your listing, so name the file after your tool rather than leaving it as a screenshot timestamp.

How long should the AI Tools Up description be?

One to three paragraphs. Published descriptions run to a median of about 320 characters and are shown in full on the listing page, so there is no truncation to design around there. The first 190 characters or so do get used as the shorter snippet, which is the usual reason to put the plain explanation of what the tool does at the very start.

What are the Pricing and Features options on AI Tools Up?

Pricing is required and offers four choices: Free, Freemium, Free trial and Paid. Features is optional and offers API, Open source, Mobile app, Browser extension and Discord community. There is also an unticked newsletter checkbox at the bottom, which you can leave alone.

How long does AI Tools Up take to publish a listing?

Their free tier card says listed within 30 days. The 24-hour figure that also appears on the pricing page belongs to the paid options rather than the free route, so it is not the number to plan around. The form's own intro says they try to review submissions as soon as possible, which is a statement of intent rather than a commitment. After you press Submit you get Tally's standard thank-you screen, with no reference number to quote later, so note the date yourself.

Are AI Tools Up links dofollow?

On the published listings, yes, and this was a full count rather than a sample. Across all 367 posts and the 590 anchors in their bodies, exactly one carried nofollow, and sponsored and ugc appeared not at all. All 303 Visit buttons are followed. Two details for completeness: most of those outbound links carry an appended ref or utm parameter, and 15 of 15 listings we traced from 2024 are still live with the same address and the same rel attribute.

Does Submitator submit to AI Tools Up?

Yes, on the free tier. This is one of the fuller forms on our list, with an image to upload, two dropdowns and a categories box that expects you to already know their vocabulary, so it is more work by hand than most. Our starter plan is $29 for thirty, every one named with its rating attached, so you decide where the slots land.
