Their own pricing page frames it exactly that way: "The only question is whether you pay with a badge on your homepage or once, with money."
The part worth understanding before you choose is that the badge is not a one-time step. It is a standing condition, verified every day, and the link is followed only while it holds. We checked all 248 listings on the site to see whether that is enforced in practice. It is.
Their $19 exists to remove a chore, and the chore is real: install the badge, keep it live, and stay live, because they re-check daily. Per dailypings.com, its /pricing, /about, /faq and /sponsor pages and its submission form, read on 2 September 2026. Tier names, prices and bullets are quoted from the pricing page: the free tier is listed as "Free with badge, $0, badge required" with "Listed once the badge is verified", "Dofollow backlink while the badge stays up", "24 hours in ‘Newly launched’" and "Checked daily — remove it, you're unfeatured", and as not including a description and FAQ on your page, a badge-free listing, a newsletter mention or priority support; Premium at $19 one-time lists "Live instantly — no badge to install", "Permanent dofollow backlink", "7 days in ‘Newly launched’ — 7× free", "Featured in the weekly newsletter", a full page with FAQ and priority support. The enforcement wording is from their FAQ. Sponsorships are priced separately at $19.67 a week for one of three site slots and $49 for a newsletter issue, and their refund line is "No refunds are given once a listing is live." Domain Rating is Ahrefs' figure via submitator.com/domain-rating-checker, which returned 54, matching the figure DailyPings publishes on its own pages; no second provider was queried. The link finding is a full census, not a sample: all 248 listing URLs in their sitemap were fetched and parsed, all 248 returned successfully at 109-127 KB, none carried a robots noindex, and each carries exactly five outbound anchors, of which one points at Ahrefs, one at the site-wide sponsor and three at the listed tool's own domain. On 242 listings those three anchors have no nofollow; on six they do. We then loaded all six of those tools' homepages and found no DailyPings badge on any of them, and nine of ten randomly drawn dofollow listings did have one; the tenth had no badge, which is what a paid Premium listing would look like. That is a correlation observed on one day, not a statement about any individual listing's tier or history, and markup can change at any time. Paste your URL and let it fill itself in
The first field is the only one that needs thought. Their auto-fill reads your site for the name, tagline and thumbnail, and the note under it says you can edit all of it below, so treat what comes back as a draft rather than a result. If your homepage has no clear one-liner in its title or meta description, the auto-fill has nothing good to work with and you will be rewriting all three fields anyway.

Replace the thumbnail if it grabbed the wrong thing
The slot wants 1200 by 630, the Open Graph size, and the caption under the preview is honest about the stakes: this is exactly how it will appear. A scraped hero with a cookie banner across it is the usual failure. Upload your own OG image and you are ahead of most of the directory.

Write the tagline as one line that survives on its own
Their placeholder asks for a one-liner that hooks people, and in the feed the tagline is all anyone reads next to your name. Look at the front page before you write yours: the listings that work name the job the tool does in about eight words.

The panel on the right is a straight either-or. Premium is $19 one-time and publishes on the spot with nothing to install. Free publishes once their badge is detected on your homepage. Everything else about the listing, including the link, is the same on the day.

The flow checks for it, so paste their snippet into your homepage first, then click through. Their FAQ says verification is instant once the badge is detected, and that you can re-verify any time if it ever falls off.

Then keep it there, because that is the actual deal
Once a day they look for it again. Two consecutive days missing and the free listing comes down, with an email to tell you. This is the step nobody plans for, because it never finishes.
We checked whether the badge rule is really enforced
A daily check is easy to announce and easy to quietly not do, so we looked at every listing on the site rather than a handful. Their sitemap holds 248 listing pages. All 248 fetched cleanly, none were noindexed, and each one carries exactly five outbound links: one to Ahrefs for the DR badge they display, one to the site-wide sponsor, and three to the listed tool itself.
On 242 of them, all three of those anchors pass equity. On six, the same three anchors carry nofollow. So we opened those six sites. Not one was displaying the DailyPings badge. Then we drew ten dofollow listings at random as a control: nine had the badge up, and the tenth had no badge and a followed link, which is what a paid Premium listing looks like.
That is the rule working exactly as written. The link is genuine, the condition on it is genuine, and six makers are currently getting a listing without the equity they were listed for. Most of them almost certainly do not know.
The badge, handled for you
One badge is a five-minute job. The problem is that it never becomes a finished job, and it is not one badge. Directories that want a badge each want their own, each checks on its own schedule, and each withdraws something different when it stops finding it. Miss one for two days here and the link stops passing equity.

We are not going to pretend that is nothing.
