AITopTools Sells 100+ Directory Submissions for $299. We Asked for the List and Got Ten.

AITopTools is a large AI-tool directory, 11,116 listings, Ahrefs DR 54, and the listing it sells is honest: we fetched 400 of those pages at random and all 400 link out to the tool with a followed link, exactly as their bullet "DR 54+ dofollow website backlink" says. Publishing costs $59 one-time, with $99 struck through beside it.
Then there is the tier above it, and that one is our business. $299 buys, in their words, "Publish instantly on the AITopTools homepage + let our team submit your product to 100+ more directories". So the $299 covers their own listing as well as the submissions. Price the listing at their own $59 and $240 is left for the hundred, against $79 here. What still cannot be compared is the two lists. The full one is not published anywhere on their site, and AITopTools says it moves as directories open, close, change their terms or add paid tiers, so a buyer sees the final set after paying. They did send us a ten-row sample of a real customer report, and it is below.
On the site itself, the whole of what the $299 tells you about where you are going is "100+ additional directory submissions" and "Detailed submission report". After this page went up, AITopTools sent over a sample from a real customer completion report: ten rows, Domain Ratings from 92 down to 77. Every one of the ten is marked Free in their own pricing column, and every one is marked Submitted rather than published. The other ninety-odd are not covered by the sample, and the company says the working list moves as directories open, close and change terms.

Per aitoptools.com, its robots.txt, sitemap.xml, /claim-your-tool/, /sponsorships/ and the listing pages sampled here, read on 25 and 26 August 2026. Domain Rating is Ahrefs' figure via submitator.com/domain-rating-checker; no second provider was queried. Nothing was submitted, no account was created and no payment was made. sitemap.xml answers 200 and holds 11,476 URLs, of which 11,116 are /tool/ pages, 152 are blog posts, 95 are free-ai-tools pages and 95 are category pages; the claim page's own counter reads "Join 11,116+ AI tools already listed on AITopTools", which matches the sitemap exactly. The link census is a seeded random sample of 400 of those 11,116, all 400 fetched with zero errors: every one carries a Visit anchor to the listed tool's own domain with rel="noopener noreferrer" and no nofollow, sponsored or ugc token, every one carries a rel=canonical, and every one emits the same JSON-LD type set including TechArticle, Organization and BreadcrumbList. 372 of the 400 carry no review. The three prices, their badges, their struck-through figure and every bullet are quoted from the served HTML of /claim-your-tool/, where the pricing cards render at the third step of the flow but are present in the page source; the same cards were seen on screen in the live flow on 25 August 2026. On 26 August 2026 /claim-your-tool/?plan=instant and /claim-your-tool/?plan=package each answered 200 with the plan already selected and its price rendered, so no part of the form has to be completed to read a number. The $59 and $69 figures are from those same fetches: the /claim-your-tool/ card rendered "$59.00" with "$99" in a line-through span and a "SAVE $40" chip, the plan-selected screen rendered "Your $59 launch offer (regularly $69) is selected", and /sponsorships/ rendered $69 six times with zero occurrences of $59 and zero of the string launch offer. AITopTools then told us the $69 was outdated and corrected it. Re-fetched on 26 August 2026 after that reply, /sponsorships/ returns $59 seven times and $69 zero times, and the plan-selected screen returns "Your $59 limited-time launch offer (regularly $99) is selected". The earlier reading is kept above as a dated record rather than as a live price. The $299 card also carries "Everything in Instant Launch" and "Instant homepage placement", so it includes their own listing as well as the submissions; the $240 figure on this page is $299 less the $59 they charge for that listing on its own, and no claim is made anywhere here that their hundred directories and ours are the same hundred, because their list is not published. After the first version of this page was published, AITopTools wrote in, corrected the pricing inconsistency described above, disputed a comparison claim that did not hold up and has been removed, and supplied a screenshot of the first ten rows of a customer completion report, described by them as a representative sample; those ten rows are reproduced on this page in their own figures and the rest of that report was not supplied, so nothing is said here about it. This page is written by Submitator, which sells a competing directory-submission service, and every number on it is given with its source and its base so it can be checked. The newsletter line, "Add newsletter sponsorship for $49 / Get a top-of-newsletter mention to 50K subscribers. This is a one-time charge added to your initial checkout.", appears on the plan-selected screens; the 50K figure is their claim and was not verified. 100directories.aitoptools.com answered 200 on 26 August 2026 with the title "AITopTools - 100 Directories" and one script, /assets/index-xDI6f12I.js, of 652,194 bytes: searched for Product Hunt, BetaList, G2, Capterra, AlternativeTo, Futurepedia, There's An AI For That, SaaSHub, Toolify, Uneed, Fazier, Startup Fame and Indie Hackers it returns no match, it holds no directory list array, and the only quoted domain in it is aitoptools.com. AITopTools says that subdomain is a landing page and customer-facing interface rather than a public copy of its working database, so its front-end bundle would not be expected to carry the list; the measurement stands as a measurement and nothing further is read into it here. The strings Product Hunt, BetaList, G2, Capterra, AlternativeTo and Futurepedia return no match on the claim page or the homepage. robots.txt allows all except wp-admin, wp-login.php, admin, account, login, sign-up, reset-password, payment, demo-register and unsubscribe. Submitator does not submit to AITopTools: our plans are $29 for 30 directories, $49 for 60 and $79 for 100, one-time, chosen by you in the dashboard with each Domain Rating shown, rejections credited back as +1 directory and a 30-day refund policy on the conditions in our terms.

Read the price before you start
The flow is three steps, labelled "Build listing", "Review listing" and "Publish", and the cards render at the third, after six fields their meter counts: URL, Name, Category, Tagline, Description and Email. You do not have to wait for them. /claim-your-tool/?plan=instant and ?plan=package each answer 200 with the number on the page, and /sponsorships/ lists the prices outright. Open one of those first, then start the form knowing what it ends at.

Write the listing yourself if you want it to read like you
The form offers "Draft with AI (optional)" beside the URL field, and the tagline and description it drafts are what publishes. Their own pitch for the listing is "Get discovered by people actively searching for AI products with a dedicated listing and website link." That description is the part a reader actually reads.

Take the $59 tier at face value, because it checks out
"Instant Launch" promises "Instant homepage placement", "DR 54+ dofollow website backlink", "Permanent listing and dedicated tool profile", "User reviews and listing dashboard" and "No recurring listing fee". The link half is true: on 400 listings sampled at random, all 400 point at the tool with a followed anchor, and Ahrefs rates the domain 54.

Notice the monthly line under the cards
One line below the two tiers sits "Prefer monthly? Publish for $9.99/month". That is $119.88 over a year against a $59 one-time card whose own bullet reads "No recurring listing fee". If you are going to be listed for more than six months, the one-time number is the cheaper of their two.

Ask for the list before you consider the $299
The AI Authority Package is sold as "100+ additional directory submissions" with "Descriptions, categories, and tags handled by our team" and a "Detailed submission report". No directory in that hundred is named anywhere on the site. Ask for the list in writing first: which hundred, at what Domain Rating, and how many are dofollow. It is a fair question and the answer is the whole product.

Do not expect the review feature to carry you
"User reviews and listing dashboard" is a real feature, and on the 400 listings we sampled 372 have no review on them. Treat the listing as a page and a link rather than as a source of social proof.

Push the URL to an indexer yourself
The listing pages are technically sound, with a canonical on every one of the 400 we read and a full JSON-LD block, so the page is not the problem. It is a new URL on a very large site, though, and those benefit from being handed straight to an indexer. Free IndexMachine indexing rides along with our $49 and $79 plans.
The $299 is our product, with a listing attached
Read the top card again. Most of it is a done-for-you submission service: "let our team submit your product to 100+ more directories", "Descriptions, categories, and tags handled by our team", "Detailed submission report". That is the same sentence we would write about ourselves. It also carries "Everything in Instant Launch" and "Instant homepage placement", so their own listing and its followed link are inside the $299 as well, and that half is not our category at all.
So price that half at their own number. They sell the listing alone for $59, which leaves $240 of the $299 for the submissions. A hundred submissions here cost $79. That is $161 more, or $2.40 a directory against 79 cents, before anyone argues about which directories they are.
And that argument is the real one, because a count is not a list. Ours is a list you read before anything is filed: every directory named in the dashboard with its Domain Rating on the card, and you tick the ones you want. Theirs is a number with a report at the end of it.
The ten rows AITopTools sent us
After the first version of this page went up, AITopTools wrote in. They corrected a pricing inconsistency we had found, they disputed a claim of ours that did not hold up, and they sent a sample from a real customer completion report so the work could be seen. That is more than any other directory in this series has done. We told them the sample would go into this page, attributed, and it is reproduced below in their own figures.

Reproduced from a screenshot of a customer completion report supplied by AITopTools in August 2026, described by them as a representative sample. Domain Rating, pricing and status are their columns and their figures, not ours. The report also carries a Submission Link, a Success Message and a Submission Proof column, the last holding a screenshot of the confirmation screen each site returned. Two of the ten submission links are third-party forms rather than directory pages, forms.gle for AI Infinity and a Typeform for Startup88. One row, Alternative.me, carries the comment "Pending submission" beside a Submitted status. The remaining rows of the report were not supplied and nothing is claimed about them here.
Read the columns as they stand. Domain Ratings run from 92 down to 77, which is a strong band. All ten are marked Free in their own pricing column, so none of the ten carries a paid tier the $299 is absorbing. And all ten are marked Submitted, which is the honest word: AITopTools says plainly that "third-party acceptance and indexing cannot be guaranteed because those decisions remain with each directory", and the proof column holds the confirmation screen rather than a live listing.
Three of the ten are in our own catalogue at the same Domain Ratings: SourceForge at 92, AlternativeTo at 80 and Alternative.me, which their report puts at 77 and ours at 75. So a third of the sample is inside the $79 plan here. That is a price observation and not a quality one, and it is the one that matters if you are deciding between the two.
What the $299 also buys, in their description of it, is the work around the submissions: reviewing the product, preparing and adapting its information, assigning categories and tags, completing the submissions, reviewing the result and writing the report. That is real work and the sample documents it. The difference is not whether the work happens. It is that ninety of the hundred are still a number until the report arrives, and here the hundred is a list you read and tick before anything is filed.
Credit where it is due: the listing is real
None of this is an argument against the $59. We sampled 400 of their 11,116 listing pages at random and fetched every one. All 400 carry the Visit anchor to the tool's own domain with rel="noopener noreferrer", which passes ranking credit, with no nofollow, no sponsored and no redirector in the set. All 400 carry a canonical tag and a full structured-data block. Ahrefs rates the domain 54, so the bullet that says "DR 54+" is telling the truth.
Their catalogue number checks out too: the claim page says "Join 11,116+ AI tools already listed on AITopTools", and their sitemap holds exactly 11,116 tool URLs. A directory that counts itself accurately is rarer than it should be.
What the form takes before it quotes you
The flow is Build listing, Review listing, Publish, and the price lives on the third screen. Before that you fill six fields, tracked by their own meter: URL, Name, Category, Tagline, Description and Email. It is a well-built form, and the ordering does the usual work: by the time the numbers appear you have written the listing. Call it a UX choice rather than concealment, because the cards sit in the page source from the first byte, ?plan=package answers 200 with "$299" on it, and their sponsorships page prints the prices in the open.
Worth knowing before you start, then. $59 to publish, $9.99 a month if you would rather pay that way, and $299 if you want the hundred directories. The middle option carries a year cost of $119.88, on a card whose neighbour advertises "No recurring listing fee".
A $59 and a $69, since made consistent
On 26 August 2026 three of their own surfaces, read the same day, did not agree. The pricing card on /claim-your-tool/ read "$59.00" with "$99" struck through and a "SAVE $40" chip under a "LIMITED TIME OFFER" badge. Pick that plan and the confirmation line one screen later read "Your $59 launch offer (regularly $69) is selected". And /sponsorships/ sold the same permanent listing as "Get listed for $69", printed six times, with no $59 anywhere on the page. The regular price was $99 on one screen and $69 on the next, so the saving was $40 or $10 depending which you read.
AITopTools has since told us the $69 was outdated, and it is gone. Re-checked the same day: /sponsorships/ now carries $59 seven times and $69 not once, and the confirmation line reads "Your $59 limited-time launch offer (regularly $99) is selected". It stays on this page because the page is dated and the reading was real, not because the discrepancy is still there. If you are pricing this today, the number is $59 against $99.

AITopTools review: which tier, if any?
If you want a followed link from a DR 54 AI directory with eleven thousand tools on it, the $59 is a straight deal and their bullets describe it accurately. Take the one-time price over the monthly one unless you plan to be listed for under six months.
The $299 is the one we would not buy, and not only because it is our category. Credit their own listing at their own $59 and the submissions still come to $240 against $79 here, and the difference in what you can inspect is larger than the difference in price: our hundred is a list you read and choose from, with every Domain Rating on screen, while theirs is a number followed by a report. We asked for that list. Ten rows came back and they are good rows, and the ninety behind them are still a number until the work is done.
One more thing the $79 absorbs. Nine of those directories sell a paid tier of their own, and the plan covers each of them, over $140 of launch fees that never reaches your card.
