Four Fields, Then a Link or a Code. Free, No Account.
Submitator wrote this page and files customers to Freeboard. Everything below comes from freeboard.lol as it stood on 29 September 2026.
A free directory for any legal website, Freeboard calls itself "The open board for every website." It holds 139 verified listings, and its homepage shows the top 15 in one order only: by the clicks Freeboard has sent them.
Submitting takes four fields (a URL, a name, an optional one-line description and a niche) and then a choice of route. Put a public link to Freeboard on your site and the listing goes live as soon as the check passes; confirm a six-digit email code instead and it waits for their review.
The listing is not a backlink, and Freeboard is the first to say so: "Outbound directory links are marked nofollow; listing or verification does not promise SEO benefit." What it gives you is an indexable profile page and visitors whose clicks are counted in public. We file customers here and run both routes for them.
| On the form | What it takes |
|---|---|
| Your site's URL | The address to list, as yoursite.com |
| Name | Your site's name |
| Short description | Optional, one line, up to 200 characters |
| Niche | One of 46, General by default |
| Route A: public link | Check backlink and submit, live on a valid check |
| Route B: email code | Six digits, 15 minutes, then their review |
The link route is labelled "automatic approval" and the email route "review required". Their instructions spell out the difference: "A valid public-backlink check makes it live immediately. A correct email code places it in the review queue." A failed link check is not the end: you can fix it and retry, or switch to the email route.

Read on 29 September 2026, with nothing submitted: freeboard.lol's home page, /submit, /how-to-list, /for-ai, /about, /editorial-standards, /badge, /contact, /directory-notes and its two notes, /open-web-click-index, llms.txt, robots.txt, the sitemap and all 136 listing pages at /site/<domain> that the sitemap names. Form labels, placeholders and route texts are quoted as served; the 200-character limit is the description field's own maxLength, and the six-digit code and its 15-minute expiry are from /how-to-list. Every one of the 136 listing pages is marked "Verified and live", carries meta robots "index, follow" with a canonical to itself and has exactly one link toward the listed site: a Visit button to /api/go/<id> with rel="nofollow noopener"; the one we followed answered with a 302 to the listed site's home page. No page links the listed domain directly, and a page re-fetched with a Googlebot user agent carried the same anchor. Their robots.txt reads "Disallow: /api/". Freeboard states the policy on /editorial-standards ("Outbound directory links are marked nofollow"), on /submit ("Freeboard does not pass ranking credit through directory links") and in llms.txt. The counts of 139 verified listings, 3,491 clicks delivered and 19,163 directory visits are the home page's live counters; the Open Web Click Index snapshot of 28 September 2026 lists 139 approved listings and 1,740 measured outbound clicks to them. Their llms.txt still describes an earlier rule, a code sent to an address on the submitted domain, which is how 102 of the 136 listings show ownership was proved; the submit page and /how-to-list now accept any inbox. Unclaimed records, the three-day claim countdown and the loading of existing details are from /about, /how-to-list and /contact. freeboard.lol was registered on 25 August 2026 per its whois record. Domain Rating is Ahrefs' figure via submitator.com/domain-rating-checker, which returned 0. Submitator's founder states that we file customers to Freeboard, that the Freeboard link on a customer's site (the badge, in the founder's words) and the email check are ours to handle and that each directory gets a unique description from us. Starter is $29 for 30 directories, Growth $49 for 60 and Scale $79 for 100, each paid once and chosen in the dashboard; a rejected submission is credited back as another directory to choose, and refunds follow the 30-day conditions in our terms.
The link route publishes on the spot
Their snippet is one line, <a href="https://freeboard.lol" rel="noopener">Listed on Freeboard</a>. It can go on the page you submit or anywhere on your homepage; in their words, "a footer credit is the usual spot". The page has to be live and public: "Not a staging site, not a repo that hasn't been deployed yet."
Your link does not have to pass anything to them. Nofollow, sponsored and ugc are all accepted, because the check exists only to prove you control the site, and it "never changes directory position". Press Check backlink and submit, and a valid link publishes the listing there and then.
The email route goes past a person
No link needed here. Enter an address, receive a six-digit code and type it in within 15 minutes. The request then joins their review queue. Any inbox works: "You may use a work address, Gmail, Outlook, or another inbox you can access." The same address receives the outcome, since the field is labelled "used for verification and the review result".
Your domain may already be on the board
Freeboard also adds sites it finds on its own, and marks them unclaimed. Their contact page is direct about it: "Hundreds of listings here were found in public trackers, not submitted by their operators". Unclaimed records stay out of their sitemap and search indexing, and once a three-day claim countdown runs out their link points back at Freeboard until the owner verifies.
So type your domain into the submit form before anything else. If Freeboard knows it, the form loads the existing details for you to correct, and verifying through either route turns that record into your own verified listing.
What a verified listing is worth
A profile page at /site/ plus your domain, indexable and in their sitemap, showing your name, category, description, how ownership was proved and a running count of clicks delivered. Every approved site also appears in their Open Web Click Index, a dated public list ordered by those clicks, with a JSON copy to download.
The homepage top 15 is decided by those numbers and nothing else, which their standards back with "We do not sell homepage position". Their own advice on reading the count is sound too: pair it "with your own analytics referral report and conversion events".
We place the link and take the code
Freeboard is part of what we file, and both of its routes are ours to run. Submitator installs one badge component once and keeps every directory's badge live. That covers the link Freeboard checks for, and a live link is what earns the automatic approval. The email verification is handled by us as well.
Like every directory you choose, Freeboard gets a description of its own, one line written for this form. The niche is taken from your profile in our dashboard. On our catalog page its card carries a no-equity mark next to the Domain Rating, so nobody picks it for a backlink by mistake.
Freeboard review: the short answer
Go ahead, and treat it as a listing rather than a link. It is free and quick, the rules are published and kept, the homepage cannot be bought and every click it sends you is counted where you can see it. The link route puts you live the moment the check passes.
How to submit to Freeboard, step by step
- 1
Type your domain in before anything else
Freeboard may already hold a record for your site. If so, its current details load for you to amend, and your verification claims the record.
- 2
Check the URL, then add the name
The URL must be the public address of the live site: staging sites and undeployed repos do not qualify. Then give the name you want on the board.
- 3
Say what it is in one line
Optional, and capped at 200 characters. Their standards ask for a description that is “accurate and useful, not a string of search terms”.
- 4
Pick the niche that fits
46 options, among them AI Tools, Software & Dev Tools, Open Source and SaaS & Startups. General is only the default.
- 5
Add the Freeboard link for instant approval
Paste their Listed on Freeboard snippet into your footer or the submitted page, publish it, then press Check backlink and submit. A nofollow link is fine.
- 6
Or confirm an email code and wait for review
Any inbox you can open. The code lasts 15 minutes, and the review result comes back to the same address.
- 7
Let Submitator run both routes
The Freeboard link is kept live with the rest of your badges, the email check is ours and the one-line description is written for Freeboard, alongside every other directory you choose.
$0 here, and no equity. $29 for thirty, each one measured.
One payment, every directory named in your dashboard with its Domain Rating on the card and a no-equity mark where the link cannot be crawled, so you can tell a link from a listing before you pick it.
No fee, live on a link, ranked by clicks.
Freeboard takes any legal website on four fields and no account. A public link to them publishes the listing at once, an email code sends it to review and the homepage top 15 is ordered only by the clicks they send. The Visit link is nofollow by their own published rule. We place the link, handle the email check and write the line, from $29. The whole catalog.
FAQ
Is Freeboard free?
Yes, completely. Their instructions say “No account or payment is required”, and their editorial standards add: “We do not sell homepage position”.
Is Freeboard dofollow?
No, and they say so first: “Outbound directory links are marked nofollow; listing or verification does not promise SEO benefit.” On all 136 listing pages in their sitemap, the Visit button points at an internal /api/go/ address with rel="nofollow noopener", and their robots.txt disallows /api/. Visitors reach your site through a 302; crawlers are told not to follow.
Link route or email route: which is faster?
With the link route, at once: “A valid public-backlink check makes it live immediately.” With the email route, a correct code puts it in a review queue, and the result is sent to that address. No review time is published.
Can I verify with a Gmail address?
Yes. Their instructions read: “You may use a work address, Gmail, Outlook, or another inbox you can access.” The six-digit code expires after 15 minutes, and an email-verified listing waits for their review before it appears.
Does the link back to Freeboard have to be dofollow?
No. Any public link counts: “Standard, nofollow, sponsored, and ugc links all count.” It can sit on the page you submit or anywhere on your homepage, and it only proves you control the site; they state that it “never changes directory position”.
What is the Freeboard badge?
An optional image link to your Freeboard profile, generated at /badge and marked rel="nofollow". It is separate from the verification link, and their page says it “does not affect approval, placement, or ranking”.
What is Freeboard's Domain Rating?
0 on Ahrefs, as our checker read it on 29 September 2026; freeboard.lol was registered on 25 August 2026. With the Visit link nofollowed and routed through a blocked path, the rating would not pass to a listing in any case.
Does Submitator submit to Freeboard?
Freeboard is in our catalog, with both verification routes handled by us: the Freeboard link is kept live on your site the way we keep every directory's badge live, and the email check is ours too. The one-line description is written for this form, and its card in our catalog carries a no-equity mark. From $29 for thirty directories.
More submit-to guides.
Freeboard is free. Thirty directories are $29, each one measured.
One payment. Each directory is named with its Domain Rating on the card before you choose it, a no-equity mark sits where the link cannot be crawled, badges are installed and kept live where one is wanted and a rejection is swapped for another directory.
