DodoDirectory calls itself a business directory with dofollow backlinks, which is at least honest about what it is for. It is rated 51 by Ahrefs, and the link is real: we fetched all 255 listing pages we could enumerate and 253 carry a followed link to the product, usually two anchors to the site plus the founder's social profiles.
The free tier is free of charge and not free of obligation. Their own words: the badge must stay on your website permanently, they run regular automated checks, and if it is removed your listing is "immediately unpublished — no warnings". No grace period, no email, no second chance.
Their $9.99 Premium tier exists to remove exactly one thing: the badge. Domain Rating is Ahrefs' figure via submitator.com/domain-rating-checker, which returned 51; no second provider was queried. Tier names, prices and bullets are quoted from the pricing page: the Free Listing lists a review and listing within 2 weeks, 1 permanent dofollow backlink, a listing page of about 3,000 characters, listing and traffic forever, "Backlink to our site is required", "Badge must stay on your site permanently — removal = instant delisting", no AI-written SEO description and no customer support; Premium Listing at $9.99 one time is headed "Skip the queue. No backlink required." and lists 3 permanent dofollow backlinks from high DA pages, instant approval skipping the 14-day wait, an AI-written listing page of about 6,000 characters, a lifetime listing with no recurring fees and no badge required; Review Article at $49.99 one time adds an AI-generated article of about 10,000 characters with structured pros and cons published as a blog post with dofollow links; Sponsored Press Coverage is listed from $299. Badge conditions are quoted from the badge step of the submission flow. Payments are processed by Polar and their pricing page excludes crypto, adult, gambling and illegal content. Their published FAQ states that listings are permanent, that a dashboard allows later edits, and that refunds are generally not offered; note that the same FAQ answers "Do I need to provide a backlink for my listing?" with "No.", which describes the paid tiers rather than the free one whose card requires it. The link finding is a census of what we could enumerate: their sitemap holds 172 URLs and contains no listing pages, so we collected listing URLs from all 44 category pages, reaching 255 distinct /item/ pages, and fetched every one successfully at 238-407 KB. Every page carried a canonical tag and none carried a robots noindex. Each page carries three site-wide anchors correctly marked "noopener sponsored" to paid placements, which were identified by frequency and excluded; of the remainder, 253 of the 255 listings carry at least one anchor to the listed product with the rel attribute empty, so they pass equity, and 2 had no identifiable product anchor. Their homepage counter reads 328 websites and a category filter reads 857, neither of which we could reconcile with the 255 pages reachable from their own category navigation. Nothing behind the pay buttons was observed: no submission was made and no payment taken. Their FAQ answers "Do I need to provide a backlink for my listing?" with a flat "No." That is true of the paid tiers and not of the free one, whose card says a backlink to their site is required. The cards are the current source; the FAQ still refers to plan names that no longer appear on the page.

What we found in the listings
Their sitemap holds 172 URLs and not one of them is a listing, so we walked all forty-four category pages instead and collected 255 distinct listing pages. Every one fetched, every one carried a canonical tag, and none was noindexed.
On 253 of those 255, the link to the listed product passes equity. The two exceptions had no identifiable product anchor at all. Alongside them sit three site-wide slots that are marked sponsored, which is the correct way to mark a paid placement and something a surprising number of directories still get wrong.
Two counters we could not reconcile, for what it is worth: their homepage says 328 websites and a category filter says 857, while their own category navigation leads to 255 pages. We report all three rather than pick one.
Is the $9.99 worth it?
On its own merits, it is a fair price. Three followed links instead of one, instant listing instead of a fortnight, an AI-written page twice the length, and no badge to maintain. If you are doing this by hand and DodoDirectory is a directory you care about, ten dollars to never think about it again is defensible.
What it is not is a reason to skip the free tier when the badge is already someone else's job. Through a plan here, the maintenance question is answered before it is asked, and the same $29 covers twenty-nine more directories besides this one.
