Sources, all read on 11 October 2026 (22:51 to 23:32 UTC on 10 October): the aitoolzdir.com home page, /submit and the code behind its form, /submit/success, /marketmap with its embedded listing data, the seven category pages and five pricing pages, /terms, /privacy, robots.txt, sitemap.xml and the pages of all 348 listings the site links, 346 of which load (the other two return 404). The seven fields, the seven categories and the wording of both option cards come from the live page and its code and match a screenshot of the form taken by Submitator's founder that day; the categories were counted in the code, in the opened dropdown and in the navigation. The submit page header and the Loom listing, a tool the directory added itself in 2023, were captured in a browser right after. The count of 348 comes from the site's own listing data and the per-category counters on its market map. Each of the 346 listing pages carries two product buttons, Visit and Go to: 692 links, all with rel="noopener noreferrer" and none with nofollow, sponsored or ugc; no link passes through a redirect or click counter run by the directory; on all 123 pages of listings added through the form, both links go to the submitted address with "/?ref=aitoolzdir.com" appended. Each listing page's meta robots reads "index, follow" and its canonical points at itself; robots.txt allows every crawler; a browser render of 16 pages and a Googlebot fetch of 3 showed the same links. Each of the 941 cards on the 12 browse pages carries one more such link, and all 126 form records carry a Paid tag (one with Free Trial beside it), which also puts their card on the Paid AI Tools page. Of the 126 listings added through the form, 115 sites loaded and 73 showed a link to AI Toolz Dir on the address submitted (70 in their HTML, 52 of those inside the page footer, plus 3 more after rendering); the paid route needs no link. Fifteen listings present in the site's sitemap.xml and in Wayback Machine snapshots taken between July 2025 and July 2026 now return 404; of the 14 sites behind them that load, 10 carry no link to AI Toolz Dir and 4 do. Our founder states (11 October 2026) that we submit customers to AI Toolz Dir on its free route, place its link with our badge component and keep it live; that component goes on the customer's site once and carries every directory's badge or link, with no commit per directory. He also states that we write each directory's descriptions to its own limits and enter the email the customer gives us. Their link goes on your site before you submit
The free card shows the code under "Add this to your site before submitting:", with a copy button beside it: <a href="https://www.aitoolzdir.com" target="_blank">AI Toolz Dir</a>. It is a plain text link, so there is no image to host and no size to pick.
The card names no particular page for it, and most sites that carry the link keep it in the footer.

A listing page keeps to the point: your logo, the name as you typed it, the category, the Visit button, your Full Description and the Go to button. No ads and no related tools stand between your description and the reader.
Both buttons link the address you entered with /?ref=aitoolzdir.com on the end, so your analytics can tell which visits came from them. Each listing page asks to be indexed and followed and names itself as canonical, while robots.txt lets every crawler in.
The link also travels beyond the page. Your card on your category page carries its own followed Visit link. The form has no pricing field, and every listing added through it carries a Paid pricing tag, which puts a second card with the same link on the Paid AI Tools page. Browse pages sort cards by name, so a listing on the free route sits exactly where a $25 one would.
Seven fields, and what each one becomes
Tool URL: type the bare home page, https://yourtool.com, with no slash at the end. The link is your entry plus /?ref=aitoolzdir.com, so a trailing slash comes out as //?ref=. Fifty-four listings added through the form link that way, and on four of them the doubled address fails while the plain one loads.
Tool Name: search the directory first and choose a name nobody has listed. Two tools listed under the same name share one page, and it links only one of them. The name is also your heading, exactly as typed, and sets your place in the alphabetical lists.
Short Description, up to 200 characters: the blurb on every card and the start of your page's meta description, so make the first sentence do the work of a search snippet.
Full Description, up to 500: the only body text on your listing page.
Logo URL: a direct link to a square image, not an upload. It shows on your page and your cards, and it is the image people see when your page is shared.
Category: one of the seven (Text Generation, Image Generation, Audio Generation, Video Generation, Chat Bots, Agents or Copilots). It decides which category page your card sits on.
Your Email: where they write once you are approved; it is not shown on the listing.

What the $25 buys
The dark card on the left is the paid listing: $25 as a "one-time payment", with "No backlink on your site needed" and "Listed within 24 hours" where the free card has its backlink line and 48 hours.
